In a world where beauty is the top of almost every women’s priority, we can’t forget that beauty starts within and I don’t just mean that beauty is what you see within yourself but how we as women care for ourselves from the inside out.

The modern-day woman can’t forget that having a pretty face is just one aspect to our magnitude of beauty. Being a healthcare professional, I want to bring to the forefront the importance of making sure that women have the knowledge of self-care from the inside.

Women are a breeding field for imbalances due to mother nature so maintaining a hygiene regimen is highly important for us. I am here to walk you through natural detox regimens to do monthly to cleanse your vajayjay, ways to improve PH balances without going to the extreme. Simple yet effective ways to help you keep a healthy PH balance, and understanding why at certain times of the month, you may experience certain odors that can cause uncomfortableness around your partner or even within yourself. In this Blog I want you to become aware of these natural changes, so you can recognize when these changes aren’t so natural.

Monthly, we go through a menstrual cycle that naturally cleanse our bodies. This cycle is one of the many changes that help us rid waste from our bodies, but this can also cause a shift in our PH balance, which can cause our natural bacteria to become off kilter. When an imbalance occurs, bad bacteria can grow which could cause unwanted odor, irritation and possible infection such as bacterial vaginosis. Ladies! Don’t be alarm this is natural and there are many different things that can be done to counter this affect and there are things that can enhance these effects as well.


· Tampons {using them for an extended period can cause the PH level to rise}

· Feminine Products {That contain deodorants}

· Douching

· Sex

· Hormone fluctuations {Menopause or pregnancy}

“Women shouldn’t avoid using tampons, but it is suggested that they use the lowest absorbency possible,” said Dr. Seibel. “It is also important that the tampon is changed every 4 to 8 hours to reduce the risk of Toxic Shock Syndrome.” Some feminine products and douching can also cause a shift in your PH balance, so it is important to reduce your risk as much as possible. Also, be highly aware that your sexual partners PH can throw off your PH which can cause BV (Bacteria vaginosis). Closely monitor the changes your body has after sex, so you are proactive with treatment. Most treatments for BV are antibiotics, which can also cause a shift in your PH balance and cause a yeast infection. This happens because the antibiotics lowers your good bacteria and increase the bad bacteria.

One of my favorite natural detox that keeps a neutral PH balance is a Detox Bath. Once a week, especially after my cycle I take a detox bath. For 20 minutes I sit in a hot bath that contains a handful of Epson salts, 10 drops of lavender essential oil, and a half cup of baking soda. This combination draws out toxins, lowers stress related hormones and balances your PH levels.
